The Young Admiral

The Laksamana Muda tanjak is traditionally worn by individuals holding the rank of rear admiral or by young officers still undergoing training under the mentorship of a senior Laksamana. It symbolises a formative period of apprenticeship and emerging leadership within the royal or naval court. This tanjak marks a transitional stage where knowledge is transmitted, discipline is forged, and valour begins to take root in service of a higher command. It is a visual emblem of readiness, humility, and potential.

Textile Description

This piece is crafted from cotton and polyester, woven using the supplementary weft technique. The plain weave features a vibrant combination of Biru Firus (turquoise), Biru Laut (sea blue), and Kuning (yellow), forming a vibrant palette suggestive of maritime life, youthful energy, and the illumination of learning. These are paired with shimmering kencana (gold) threads in the supplementary weave, lending distinction and a ceremonial sheen. Together, the colours and composition reflect the aspirational spirit of the Laksamana Muda—a crest worn with pride and a commitment to grow into greatness.
